Students from Nisa Women’s College, Pooppalam participated in an industrial visit to Institute of Gems & Jewellery, gaining hands-on exposure to jewellery making, appraisal techniques, and the workings of the jewellery industry. The visit provided practical learning experiences, enhancing their understanding of industry standards and professional skills.
The IGJ industrial visit gave students a comprehensive insight into the gem and jewellery industry, starting with an introduction to its various facets. They got to experience first hand the unique environment of Institute of Gems & Jewellery , known as South India’s premier jewellery designing college. The visit included hands-on exposure to traditional hand-sketched jewellery design, computer-aided design (CAD) techniques, and the intricacies of handmade jewellery manufacturing. Students also explored jewellery production processes like mesh or casting, and gained insights into jewellery management practices. A highlight was touring a live manufacturing unit, showing them real-time production workflows.
